Even the driving games can help with hand and eye coordination and reflexes. This may improve your social interaction and hand and eye coordination. Even the Wii Guitar Hero game can be played standing or sitting which will improve fine motor skills, posture and balance.

Get fit with many activities and exercises, including strength training, aerobics, and yoga and balance games using the Nintendo Wii. The game balance board can be used to get in shape and improve your balance. Exercise workouts may decrease your weight, and increase your cardio stamina as you work your way through a variety of challenges. Check your Body Mass Index (BMI), see your Wii Fit Age and keep tabs on your daily progress towards a more fit for you.

Download Free PSP Games

Wondering how you can download free PSP games?

You are just a few mouse clicks away.

To start with, you will need a PSP that is version 1.5 or higher. A computer, either Windows or Mac, is also needed along with a high speed USB 2.0 cable. The final requirement is, of course, your own games and music files.

If you've decided to download free PSP games from a an illegal site, beware.

However, you can also download free PSP games, music and movie files from just about any source including CDs, DVDs or even your computer.

To build your PSP library, it's a good idea to buy a bigger memory stick, because the stock one is only 32MB. A 512MB or bigger memory stick is a must if you really want to download free PSP games.

Step 1: Prepare the files for a transfer

Select the movies, PSP games or music files that you want to have on your PSP and then transfer them to your PC. You can do this after ripping them from a CD or a DVD or downloading them from a site.

Step 2: Connect the PSP to the computer

Here you need to connect your PSP and your PC. This can be done by turning on the PSP and subsequently putting it in the USB connect mode. A high speed USB cable is required to connect the computer and the PSP, and without one you will have no luck trying to download free psp games.

Click Start on the computer and go to My Computer. The name of the PSP would vary from computers and its appearance would also depend on how many drives are already associated with the computer.

On a Mac the PSP may show up as a Removable Drive and at times it may show up as Drive E.

Step 3: Finally, It's Time To Download Free PSP Games!

Next you have to navigate all the folders that are within the PSP and download free PSP games to the right folder. Find the Video, Games or Music folders, then drag and drop the files where they belong.

Step 4: Play, Watch, Listen and Enjoy

Remove the USB cable and take it out of "USB CONNECT" mode after you've put the files onto your PSP. The only thing left is to enjoy! You can also find your video, music and games folders in the Memory Stick.

So, now that you know how to download free PSP games from your PC into your PSP, start downloading and enjoying unlimited entertainment.

Mario Vs Sonic - The History of These Two Gaming Giants

In the 60's and 70's it was The Beatles vs Rolling Stones. In the 80's it was Lakers vs Celtics. In the 90's the topic that saw so many schoolyard arguments was indeed Mario vs Sonic. Who would win in a fight? Who would win in a race? Who cooks a better omelet? You name it, it was argued. There were no characters as recognised to children of the 90's as Sonic and Mario, with Sonic's "Q Score" (a rating that rates something based on it's popularity) even surpassing that of Mickey Mouse. With such results, it seemed obvious this rivalry wouldn't die out quickly.

Contrary to popular belief, Mario made his debut in the 1981 Donkey Kong game for the arcade. Although he was called "Jumpman" he looked exactly the same as the Mario that appeared in the first game with his name in the title "Mario Bros." This was a basic game that didn't scroll, and it required killing all the enemies in a "Phase" and then progressing to the next phase. In this age, it is hard to see the appeal of this game, but in it's time it was rather entertaining.

Mario's game that propelled him to the status of a household name was the first "Super Mario Bros" for the NES which is now the best selling video game of all time. This was the first side scrolling Mario game and it set a standard for all the 16 bit Mario games to come. While it was not the first side scrolling platformer, it was the first done well, and allowed other developers to copy the formula. For this reason, this game is hailed by many as the saviour of the video game industry as the industry was in a great deal of trouble before it's release.

Possibly more noteworthy, was Mario's transition into the 3d world. Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64 received perfect scores from countless professional review companies. It is still seen today as the best ever 3d platformer, and many have tried but failed to replicate the success of Super Mario 64.

Sonic's creators knew from the beginning that Sega needed a mascot for it's Genesis/Mega Drive system that could help market it's console to compete with Mario and the Super Nintendo. They looked at Mario and perceived him as stuffy and uninteresting and decided to tap into the younger generation who was after something "cooler" with more attitude. After many considerations including "Mighty the Armadillo" Sonic the Hedgehog was decided on and a team of 15 began work on what would be the first Sonic game, "Sonic the Hedgehog" for the Genesis/Mega Drive.

Popular opinion said Sonic didn't really hit his straps until the second game for the 16 bit console. In this his little sidekick Tails was introduced and collecting all the chaos emeralds saw Sonic transform into "Super Sonic" which was a yellow, super fast super strong version of the character.

Sonic's 3d games however have not seen the success of it's rival Mario. Sonic 3d Blast for the Genesis/Mega Drive was an average attempt, and it wasn't until the Dreamcast where we saw a 3d Sonic game that was really worth playing called "Sonic Adventure." However, since creating that formula that worked perfectly, Sega have made odd choices with games forcing you to play as Sonic's less entertaining sidekicks to access the fun Sonic levels. Sonic the Hedgehog on the 360/PS3 received awful reviews. Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii seems to be the only game since Sonic Adventure that has really got it right with Sega finally realising that what made the originals so fun, was Sonic's blistering speed.

Sega's decision to no longer create consoles has no seen the creation of the first game where Mario and Sonic can go head to head called "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games." After selling about 1 million copies of this game, it is clear this rivalry is still alive and kicking. Many have no doubt thought back to those schoolyard arguments and thought "Finally! I can prove x is better than y!"

Whatever your opinion is, it's no doubt you haven't seen your last debate on the topic. Just remember when you're ready to rip someone's throat out, it's only a game.

Mario and Sonic's battles will never end, and as long as they continue my blog will continue writing opinion pieces on the topic. Check out Wii want to Blog for all my adventures in Wii (and general gaming) including reviews, opinion pieces and news!

Tekken 6 Release

The release date of Tekken 5: The Dark Resurrection was the same with both arcade and with home console. However, in Tekken 6, the arcade version was released last November 26, 2007. How about the PS 3 game?

It is said that the release of Tekken 6 will arrive a few months after the release of Soulcalibur 4, which is supposedly about to go live next month. But are we sure about that? Tekken 6 release date has been moved from the 3rd quarter of 2007 to the 4th quarter of 2007 to now, the summer of 2008. This change of Tekken 6 release has been driving us insane. Are the guys at Namco Bandai doing this to toy with our minds? We were expecting some news on it last April when it was Namco Bandai's Gamers' Days but to no avail, they only talked about Soulcalibur 4 and the Xbox Live version of Soulcalibur. Yes we are already reassured on Soulcalibur's arrival, let's talk about Tekken 6 please.

While waiting, Tekken 6 will be included in this July's E3 Entertainment Expo, which will happen in Los Angeles, California. Hopefully between those dates the actual Tekken 6 date release will be changed from the infamous TBA to let's say September 2008, as was previously released by Fighter's Generation. (Cross your fingers, toes, arms and legs.)

All this uproar in waiting for the new game to arrive for home console is due to its tight features and fluid moves, respectfully retained from Tekken 3 onwards. One of the new features is the rage system that packs more power into your punches or hits as your vitality hits that red hue. There are also the funny item moves that the people at Namco Bandai have placed just to make us laugh. Some haters of the arcade game go as far as actually saying that these item moves are very noob friendly but to actually play the arcade game you will see that these item moves' damage are not that high. Also, this installment gives a longer health bar so these funny antics that the makers of Tekken 6 arcade made are really well compensated for. These new features, coupled with the 4 new characters are some of the reasons for the clamor in wanting a home version, as playing in the arcade san sometimes be costly and during peak-hours, it really is quite hard to find an empty Tekken 6 game. Also, for the home version, the multi-player online version of it is no longer an ad on (for Tekken 5, it required an additional $10 for that option) which makes one salivate even more

After July of 2008, when Soulcalibur 4 has already been released in the market, the people at Namco Bandai will no longer have any excuse in making us wait any longer. However, on the bright side, they may be putting off the release as developers are adding cinematics, extra customizations for consoles and basically getting the kinks out for the online multiplayer. So when Tekken 6 for PS3 is released in the market, it better be as mind blowing as the transition from Tekken 2 to Tekken 3!

The Top 10 Sports Video Games of All Time

There have been hundreds of sports video games throughout the years. In less than forty years weve gone from Pong to MLB 2K6 for the Xbox 360. But the evolution of games hasnt always meant better games. Just because a game has flashier interfaces and better graphics, it doesnt necessarily make for good gameplay. Thats the reason that many PS2 and Xbox games are doomed to linger in discount bins at your local game store, while classics like NHL 94 and Tecmo Super Bowl continued to be obsessed over by sports fans. Heres my Top 10 of all time:

10. Jordan vs. Bird (NES) - Was the one-on-one gameplay that great? No, not really. But the game was innovative with the three point competition and slam dunk contest long before it showed up anywhere else. For that alone it deserves a spot in the Top 10.

9. Madden 2005 (PS2, Xbox, GC) - The jump from '04 to '05 was HUGE. '05 introduced the hit-stick control and defensive playmaker to bring the defensive control on par with the offense. Franchise mode is pretty much the same as '04, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. My favorite thing to do is build a team from scratch. I love taking the worst team in the league and building them into a powerhouse. You can move them to a new city and build a new stadium, then draft real college players from NCAA '05. Overall, I liked this game more than any other Madden. 2006 just didn't improve upon this game enough for me.

8. Punch-Out (NES) what kid born in the late 70s or early 80s DIDNT spend hours on end trying to beat Tyson with Little Mac?

7. Madden 94 (Genesis, SNES) - Based on memory this game was awesome. I remember being able to play with all the NFL teams and a bunch of classic teams. It was one of my favorite sports games growing up. That said, I played it recently and it sucks. It can't even come close to holding it's own against Tecmo Super Bowl. The passing is unrealistic, and the running consists of repeatedly hitting the spin button while tacklers bounce off your runner. Its this high just because of how much I remember enjoying it as a kid.

6. NBA Live 95 (Genesis, SNES) - This game might not have been realistic at all, but it was insanely fun to run up and down the court firing up threes and throwing up alley-oops. The fact that it was the first NBA game by EA with every team and every arena also scores it points. Not to mention, this was the first game with the 3/4 angle camera.

5. NFL Blitz (Arcade) - The football version of NBA Jam. Fast scoring, late hits, and crazy rules like being able to throw multiple forward passes behind the line of scrimmage make this game great. The arcade version was waaaay better than the PS or N64 versions.

4. NBA Jam (Arcade) - Between the arcade version and the console versions, I've played a ton of NBA Jam. It is one of the most unique games ever. Who didn't enjoy beating the crap out of people in mid-air or hitting three after three when they were on fire? This game totally rocked. The best part was getting all of the codes and playing with mascots and Bill Clinton.

3. Little League Baseball (NES) - I don't know why this game doesn't get more attention as one of the best NES sports games. The gameplay is the best of any NES baseball game - pitching, hitting, and fielding all are simple and feel relatively realistic. Plus there's just something fun and unique about playing with little leaguers. As far as I know this is the only little league game ever, although I could be wrong. Adding to the excitement, certain teams are significantly better than others. Want a challenge? Try winning a tournament with Italy, the worst team in the game. The replay value of LLB is unbelievable; I still play it to this day.

2. NHL 94 (Genesis, SNES) - I love modern NHL games as much as the next guy, but this game is the best ever. I still play it ALL THE TIME. The quality of play is amazing. Take away the easy wrap-around goals and the gameplay is amazingly real, especially considering how old this game is. Oh, and for the record, they are playing NHL 93 in Swingers but talking about the removal of fighting in NHL 94. Weird huh?

1. Tecmo Super Bowl (NES) - This game was far ahead of it's time - editable playbooks and season long stat tracking were so cool back then. The gameplay is far from realistic but amazingly equal. For that reason, the game is still popular and there are tons of people who still play in online leagues. The advent of emulators has allowed for the editing of rosters - I've played versions of the game with rosters from as recent as 2004. There are also versions with college rosters and USFL rosters. The weird little gameplay quirks like Bo Jackson being impossible to stop, fumbles bouncing all over the place, choosing defensive plays by guessing the offensive play, 100 yard passes, etc make the game MORE fun. This game will never, ever get old.

How To Improve Your Chess Game

It is a mistaken belief that playing chess is a god-gifted art and barring reaching an ordinary 'cognizable standard' you cannot improve. The 'cognizable standard' means you are reaching to the standard which makes you only recognize the good and bad points of the game but without any ability to develop your game accordingly. No doubt, it is a game of superior intelligence. The alertness of the mind, capacity to contemplate on and select the right future are some basic requirements of this brainy game. Of course, you cannot cultivate talent only with the help of your labor but if you have a little of it you can surely bone it. Do not forget the age-old maxim that genius is five percents inspiration and ninety-nine percents perspiration. Moreover, hardly any human being is totally devoid of the element of talent. Only when we fail to perspire for making it develop that we lag behind the others who do. This is what we purpose to do with this article.

There are times when in the absence of the right kind of guidance our talents wither. Since they dont know how to properly irrigate and fertilize this plant of talent, this get withered away. Remember that like any other discipline, chess also needs your unwaivering devotion. The young boys normally dont know how to utilize their free time, especially those who have the potentials. Follow the guidelines given ahead and become a good chess player.

1. Read Chess-books and Magazines

After playing some games, read the book carefully. Play more games and the read the book. Each time you absorb some points that seemed previously obscure or did not grip you.

The way you improve most is not by playing opponents, but by playing over well-annotated games. Cover one sides move usually the winners) and think out of each move before looking.

If you are eager to improve your play rapidly, write down the moves of all your games, not only the competitive one (in which recording is compulsory). It is best to write them in chess scorebooks, as loose score-sheets are easily lost. Afterwards, play each game and jot down critical comments. This how the grandmaster developed his skill in chess and became proficient in a short time without any coaching. It is surprising how much the game became clearer when you see every position a second time, in the light of what happened first time. You become your own tutor. If, after writing your comments you submit some of your games and your comments to a competent coach or top player for assessment for a suitable fee will improve more rapidly still.

Reading chess books by standard authors will also help. Try to follow the notations in a particular style. In case you get hold of those old books in which the notations are not in algebraic form, try to convert it in that form. Even this conversion exercise would give you a good peep inside the intricacies of the game. Write them down in a separate exercise book and the same way you do to develop you ability, say in Mathematics. This is very enlightening exercise. Just keep a small chess board with pieces alongside and convert descriptive notations into Algebraic notations. It is necessary because the algebraic notation was devised only a couple years ago while the earlier chess-books where only written in descriptive style. Remember that it is not a time consuming and boring exercise but a very rewarding one.

Besides doing this read some good magazines or newspapers having chess columns. Nowadays there is hardly any good journal or newspaper not having chess columns. Read those problems and solve them. Your intention while solving them should be to prove the given solution to be wrong! The idea is that you should independently try to attack the problem. In the process if you happen to hit some different solution deem it that you are on the right path of progress in your chess studies. You may join a club having the facility of chess. You might develop you chess skill in the company of the other learners.

Of course, you can enjoy chess without worrying about improvements. However, this is a natural tendency of an awakened mind to improve ones performance in any sphere. By following the methods recommended here, almost anybody can become a strong player in a fraction of time normally taken.

Doctor Emanual Lasker (World Champion 1897-1921) considered that given a logical approach, a person of average talent would not need to give chess more than 200 hours to reach a stage where a master player who conceded him or her handicap would surely lose.

Laskers 200 hours was an underestimate, no doubt, but certain it is that most players could reach in months a standard that usually takes them years to attain.

Some newspapers publish regular chess columns in which composed chess problems are a feature. In a problem, an artificial position is setup and a solver is required to find a way to check mate in a specified number of moves, usually 2 or 3, no matter what replies the defender makes. In these, for the sake of uniformity, White always makes the first (key) move. In 2-move problems, only the key move is required. In 3-move problems, the second moves are required for correct solutions. As the composers purpose is to make the task difficult, the key move is usually on that would be unlikely to occur to a player in an actual game, and is never capture (except of a Pawn) and never a check.

2. Play Handicap Chess with Senior Players

The often given advice to play against stronger players has two distinct drawbacks. Firstly, it is discouraging if you invariably lose. Secondly, it is painful boring for the opponent if the different in skill is great. The strong player would be too polite to tell you this, but will find some excuse to stop playing. To fore stat this, ask the opponent to give you a handicap (give you odds in the chess parlance) e.g. to remove a Knight, a Rook, a Rook plus Knight, or even the Queen. Once the right odds found, both players can have exciting game. When removing a Knight or a Rook as a handicap, convention decrees that it shall be the one on the Queens wing.

Another kind of handicap is possible with the use of chess clocks. The expert can play with a very short time limit, his opponents at a much greater one. If the difference in skill is not too wide, this sort of handicap is better, as there is no alteration of the starting position. If the difference in skill is very great, it is a good idea to use both systems.

For single games, you cannot use a time handicap unless you have chess clocks. However, in simultaneous exhibitions, a time handicap operates automatically.

Here the expert opposes a large number of players seated in a circle or rectangle, each with a board and pieces in front of him or her. The expert steps from board to board, making a move at each one. Obviously, the expert can take only a fraction of time that opponents take, as the master may have to make 10,20,30,40 or more moves in the time that each opponent has for one move.

Simultaneous exhibitions have provided, from time immemorial, an excellent opportunity for a large number of players to oppose a master under conditions that give the amateurs some chance of bringing off a draw or even a win.

3. Have chess software

Playing chess against a well-programmed computer also helps in your developing chess-skill.

It was inevitable in our age of electronics that chess would engage the attention of computer engineers.

The real revolution in computer chess was brought about by the introduction of portable, relatively inexpensive microcomputers. These have been steadily improving and the latest models feature up to sixty-four levels of play, programmed openings and games, a voice announcing moves, and sensitized squares to eliminate the need for a keyboard. Most can play a reasonable game, while the more advanced models complete successfully in open tournaments.

As hinted before, microcomputers are most useful to players who have a problem in finding an opponent. Teaching level with programmed opening variations and suggested best moves are provided to help the students.

For top players computers provide a convenient way of storing information on openings and end games. Most top players use personal computer for this purpose.

4. General Advice

You should start playing preferably with another beginner, as soon as you have learned the moves. Do not be discouraged if you are slow in remembering the rules. With a little practice, you will get accustomed to the moves of the pieces and will be able to start working things out without trying to remember how each one move and capture.

Chess is competitive and a desire to win is its strongest motivation. This is why you should play with another beginner whom you have a chance to defeating. It is better if you have an instructor who can supervise the game to make you sure that the rules are observed and to point out where you went wrong after the game.

Textbook dealing with all aspects of the game in one volume, vary in scope and price. Some chess manuals are written by champions, others by chess teachers they all help the beginner to delve deeper into the mysteries of chess. Later the person wishing to improve skills further more can specialize by studying various aspects of the game and here there is a vast choice of aids.

Books dealing with openings range from comprehensive manuals in several large volumes, not recommended for beginners, to books designed to explain the reasons why the openings are played in a certain way.

The Middle game is dealt with by explaining the basic strategic principles and by giving examples of tactical combinations. There are many books dealing with this subject.

The end game is part of the game, which all aspiring players should study. Here again there is a choice of many books. Best for beginners are elementary books, which explain basic principles that are most likely to occur in practical way. For advanced players there are books, which deal with specific ending in depth. Finally, we come to collection of games of great players. We recommend the books with detailed comments, especially those designed for beginners.

The young learners are advice not to rely heavily on chess problems to acquire mastery in this game. These problems are as removed from as crossword puzzles are from literature. Surely, they bone ones power of visualization of the moves. Play as many actual games as possible and solve chess problem to keep your mind alert in the chess-sense. Remember in chess (the actual game) the object of the game is to defeat the opponent, the means by which this end is achieve or the time is takes, being unimportant. In problems, however, the opponent represents by time. Mate must be effect with in the stipulated number of moves. Since the position given in the problems is frequently quizotic, most of the seasoned chess players dismiss then as situation unworthy of consideration. On the other hand, the problemists maintain that game involves too much laborious and profitless wood shifting, and that the artistry of fifty games can be compound into a single artificial position. Nevertheless, the best courses open for young learners to have the judicious mixture of the two.

Currently, there are many websites offering games download for PSP. Before you download these games on your PSP, you might want to ask whether is it legal.

Not all websites offering games download for PSP are legal. In fact, I would think a large majority of them are illegal and you could face a fine or even jail time if you are caught downloading from these psp download sites.

Brandon, a black man, was on a late-night beer run across state lines to Oklahoma with two white friends last month and ended up dead on a rural Texas road. (AP Photo/Matt Slocum)AP - Members of the Nation of Islam, the New Black Panthers and the NAACP on Saturday promised protests to bring more attention to the killing of an east Texas man whose death recalls, for some, a notorious decade-old hate crime.

Make A Killing In The WoW Auction House

If you're playing the auction house, you are already on the right track to making a good amount of gold in world of Warcraft. You may already be making a good amount of money. Or you may be a broke newbie looking for a way to make some gold and get that awesome level 7 gear at the vendor.

Gold is the backbone of world of warcraft. Without it, it'd just be killing for honor, and ganking on newbs... Hm that doesn't sound too bad either, lol. But if you want good gear, a mount, an epic flying mount, and all the other fun potions and spells that go along with the game you're going to need gold. A lot of gold.

And even though it's really EASY to make a LOT of GOLD in the auction house a lot of players are still too lazy to take the 5 or 10 minutes everyday to list their items in the auction house? It's not hard to meet these players, all you have to do is talk to people in the chat rooms or in the main cities...

Just ask people if they usually sell their stuff to the vendors or in the auction house. If they say to the vendors cause they don't like waiting for the money or they're just an idiot or whatever, ask them if you could start buying all their green/blue/purple items for double what the vendor pays. Tell them they could see what the vendor will give them, and then COD it to you, or save some and trade at designated times.

Then you'll have 2 times as many greens to sell in the ah, and a lot more profit.

Rock Band The Game - Dear Santa

"Dear Santa:

I've done my best to be good all year long. All I want for this Christmas is a new kind of video game that will be better than anything you've ever brought me before.

Thank you!

Jimmy"

"Dear Jimmy:

You really did do a good job this year. Consider it done!

Santa"

Jimmy gets up Christmas morning and is thrilled to pieces when he finds Santa's gift. His very own copy of MTV/Harmonix's newest gaming release, Rock Band. If you haven't yet heard about this latest gaming sensation, read on!

Rock Band is the latest entry into the genre of music/rhythm games and the creative design crew at Harmonix has gone way above and beyond on this one. Its developers wanted to come up with more than just another video game. They wanted to step things up to a whole new level, and more than succeeded with Rock Band.

This innovative game allows you to play each of the musical instruments on your own or "jam" with up to three other "band members". Rock Band also brings an entirely new dimension to the world of gaming by allowing the players to gradually be able to perform live solos, on their own, and eventually as a band. Forget karaoke. it's time to "rock"! Each musical part, including a lead guitar, bass guitar, drummer and lead vocalist, has several levels. Each member has to work on improving their performance on one level before they can move on to the next.

Harmonix is also in the process of setting up an international online community where you can find new members to play in your band or just meet and compare performance strategies. There will also be new song tracks available each week so you can continue to add to your band's playlist!

Due to the incredible pre-release response, Rock Band is expected to sell out very quickly, so if you haven't already written to Santa, you'll need to make sure to grab a copy of Rock Band for yourself.

"Dear Harmonix:

Thanks for making my job so much easier this year!"

An Introduction to Gasification Plant Technology

The most basic definition of gasification is that it is any chemical or heat process used to convert a substance to a gas.

Coal has been gasified ever since the industrial revolution to produce "town gas". This was once done in the local gas works, and every town had one. Heating the coal under controlled conditions with insufficient air to provide complete combustion produces a gaseous fuel known as syngas, which is also what is known as town gas when cooled cleaned and compressed. As we all know using gas as a fuel for so many jobs is vastly more controllable and vastly preferable to using coal.

Gasification technology is at the forefront in the efforts to develop alternatives for conventional furnaces. It is of particular interest because it offers an opportunity to use the product fuel gas in integrated gasification combined-cycle electric power generation (IGCC). Great hopes are pinned on IGCC as a highly efficient and low polluting emissions technology.

Gasification can also be fueled by materials that are not otherwise useful fuels, such as biomass or organic waste. In addition, it also solves many worries about reducing air quality. This is because the high temperature conversion reaction essential to the process also refines out corrosive ash elements such as chloride and potassium, allowing clean gas production.

Furthermore, many have reported that using their technology product gas heating (calorific) value can be made stable regardless of changes in feedstock type, ash content, or moisture content.

In some types of gasification plant, gasification takes place on the three by-products of pyrolosis and uses them to fuel a second reaction by concentrating the heat onto a bed of charcoal. These coals normally reach 1800+ degrees F, in the gasifier, which is hot enough to break the water vapor into hydrogen, and the CO2 into carbon monoxide.

Gasification is extremely environmentally friendly in that if properly designed, gasification systems produce very minimal pollution even when processing dirty feedstocks, such as high sulfur coals. In addition, gasification can effect large volume reductions in solid wastes while producing an environmentally friendly inert slag-type byproduct.

Jan Becker, Technical Director, of a US energy company growing fast on its gasification skills, added that; "the gasifier is becoming an important factor in the race toward the 'greening of America' as there is more and more awareness that many of the substances that America throws away can be gasified and then made into useful products like electricity, ethanol, methanol, and bio-diesel."

The gas produced by gasifiers (mainly comprising of 15-25% carbon monoxide, 10-20% hydrogen and 1-5% methane), is combusted in special burners for maximum efficiency. The best high quality gasifier systems can be fed on what are otherwise just low-grade waste oils or tar oils and slurries. Some slurry fed, O2 blown, entrained gasifiers operate at between 2400 degrees F and 2700 degrees F.

In these latest high technology systems high pressure steam is produced for internal and local CHP (Combined Heat and Power) use, by cooling the syngas in a radiant syngas cooler and then using (in this case) two parallel fire tube convective syngas coolers.

That is the top of the range in technological development. At the bottom. Most basic, level of he gasifier it is really simple. Simply wood burning gasifier stoves can be made to designs freely available as templates which can be made almost completely from junk parts found in various trash bins.

Gasifiers are now also available which are intended for the processing of biomass and organic waste, and this has been found viable at current oil prices, when it is considered that the numerical calculations are based on low-grade coal. It has also been shown shown that the process can be both stable and controllable. New designs can be assessed in advance by taking an appraisal of the numerically derived analysis produced by RESORT software, in order to predict the physical and chemical processes in the gasifier. The Euler-Lagrange approach for gas and particle phase is employed and Navier-Stokes equations are analyzed by the finite volume method.

Steve Evans has written much more about the fascinating new technology of gasification in the leading web site, where you can find out the essential facts about gasification technology, biomass gasification, coal gasifiers, gasification boilers, IGCC, and more...

Create Your Own Video Game

The passion for video games is one that has to be experienced to be truly understood. It is not surprising when dedicated players decide to create their own video games because they have a clear understanding of what they like in a game and what they dont. Do you too share a passion to excel in the virtual world of video games? Would you like to create your own video game? There is plenty of help at hand online to help video game players of all ages to experiment with creating a game of their own.

Basics to Create Your Own Video Game

If you ask a group of game players what is the single most important thing in a successful game they will all probably find it difficult to agree on any single factor. While some believe that it is the story line that makes a video game special others feel it is the manner in which the gameplay is designed, while still others focus on the special effects that have been included in the game.

To create your own video game it is a good idea to first decide what you find most interesting in your favorite video games and start from there. Most game players are clear about what they think a video game lacks and your video game gives you an opportunity to create what you think is a complete video game.

Once you have a great story line and characters in mind you would need to decide on the look and feel of the world in which your video game is set. Remember the more life like the virtual world the more absorbed the players become in it.

For inspiration and guidance for the style of storytelling you will find several resources online that can help you refine your narrative technique. Next you need to create the graphics for the video game and this can be done fairly easily using the varied software available for this very purpose. Most of these are free to download online and you should consider a few of them before you make up your mind.

If you dont want to sketch out characters and textures for scenes you can use the pre-made ones that can be downloaded free of cost from the internet. Two dimensional graphics are needed to create a 3 D affect and the background scenery should also match the look and feel of the video game. Depending on your level of understanding of software you need to select one that best suits your project.

Software to Help Create Your Own Video Game

Beginners and kids, you can try to create your own video game by using one of the software available for those who have little knowledge of programming and graphics but have the interest and passion for video games. The Games Factory is a great place to begin making your first video game whilst learning some of the principles of the process. Simply drag and drop the features you want included in your game. Stagecast Creator is also a wonderful tool for kids who want to make their own video game. Just draw or import your characters and indicate what you want them to do and the software takes care of the rest. This software creates terrific 2D video game that you can play and share with friends.

For players with a little more experience with games and relevant software, and are interested in 3D video games try Reality Factory, where you can build the entire world of your video game from the blueprint upwards. You can choose to use existing textures or create your own for your virtual world. There are several tutorials for Reality Factory that clarify all aspects of the software. It is free and easy to download and provides developers a great understanding of the script, models, affects, etc.

For those who are considering a career in game development and have a good understanding of the process involved software such as DarkBasic is recommended. Working on it will provide you a good understanding of the programming required for video games. As for professionals, you cant do better than C++ and Microsoft Direct X.

Microsoft XNA Game Studio Express allows Windows XP users to download it free and create video games on it. Soon developers on this system will be able to create, test and share their video games for the Xbox Three-Sixty.

Whether you are a beginner to gaming, an avid fan or a professional creating a video game of your own is the most satisfying experience, one that is sure to motivate you to create more games.

Video Game Demographics

Video game demographics involve the study of video gaming habits of people of various ages. It requires a variety of primary and secondary research techniques such as telephone and personal interviews, analysis of market surveys, trade journals, and company literature.

The demographics of video game players and the related studies reveal that video gaming is mainly an adult-oriented form of entertainment! Video games are played extensively by both men and women too. Almost 60% of the Americans play video games.

Demographic is the common name for population studies. Video game demographics involve the analysis of different demographic variables such as how many people are playing video games, age of the average gamer, gender of the gamers, what they play and how video gaming affects television viewing. Recent studies show that people have accepted video games as an important entertainment medium.

According to video game demographics, 39% of people who play computer and video games are women. Forty percent of online gamers are also women. Thirty five percent of game players are usually under eighteen years, and 65% of game players are over eighteen years old. The average age of a video game player is 18 years old. Video games are widely used by 18 to 34 year old people. People in this age range spend more time in playing video games than watching the television.

Video game industries make the most of video game demographics. They identify the characteristics of their customers using this. The information provided by video game demographics can be used to enhance the quality of their service.

The Potential Risk Of Enhancing Your Game Play With World Of Warcraft Add-ons

World of Warcraft is one of the most popular multiplayer online role playing games on the internet today. Currently, there are approximately ten million subscribers to this game. While these millions of individuals rave about the ever-popular "never-ending" game, there are many who have discovered World of Warcraft add-ons that dramatically enhance their game play. Unfortunately, there is a potential risk of using World of Warcraft add-ons in order to enhance your game play experience - that is the risk of compromising your account status. Here, we will expound on some of the most popular add-ons, as well as the reason behind Blizzard Entertainment's stand on implementing the use of these programs.

When you sign up for a World of Warcraft account, you must agree to a set "Terms of Service". In this Terms of Service put in place by Blizzard Entertainment, it states - in so many words - that "add-ons" and "mods" are not to be used to enhance game play experience, because it actually results in many in-game complications and ruins the equal opportunity among all players in the game. It has been discovered that third party programs cause many different problems within the different servers of the game. First, it can result in lag and freeze-ups while playing the game - not just for the player that implements the use of the World of Warcraft add-ons, but for everyone that plays on that particular service.

There are many other complications that can occur with World of Warcraft add-ons. It has been discovered that these third party programs also result in an in-game imbalance when comes to the World of Warcraft economy. Furthermore, individuals who implement the use of add-ons that are not created and put into place by Blizzard Entertainment have an unfair advantage when it comes to the players in general. In a nutshell, programs that are offered by companies other than Blizzard are considered to be cheats. Individuals who are caught using these programs stand the chance of compromising their accounts. If Blizzard chooses to ban an account for this reason, the characters, items, experience, and in-game money will all be terminated. It does not matter if you have been using the add-ons for a week or a year - if you are caught, you face the potential risk of compromising your account.

Examples of third party World of Warcraft add-ons include popular programs like Auctioneer, Titan Panel, Quest Helper, Cartographer and Atlas.

If you use these add-ons, it is important to ask yourself: "Do I want to face the potential risk associated with using third party World of Warcraft add-ons?" - If the answer is "no", then get rid of them!

Derek Smithson has written articles on World of Warcraft gold and the many World of Warcraft mods which are available, as well as a number of World of Warcraft guides.

Arcade Games - Are They Here to Stay?

Arcade games are a great way to relax and enjoy a little bit of downtime. Most are a coin-operated entertainment machines, typically installed in businesses such as restaurants, pubs, video arcades, and Family Entertainment Centers. These games are often converted into the latest titles, which is why you rarely see older games in your local arcade. Arcade games are all about the adrenaline rush which kicks in within a couple of minutes of starting one, and doesn't let up until you are either dead or managed to beat the game. These games are meant to be cheap entertainment games for the whole family to enjoy, but raising the prices just shows that it isn't about satisfying the customer, but their own wallets.

Games were designed in a wide variety of genres while developers had to work within strict limits of available processor power and memory. Some games such as Donkey Kong and Qix introduced new types of games where skill and timing are more important than shooting as fast as possible. Most actively strive to teach the player the rules by which the game world is governed, but they also have another goal: to make the experience of using the game intrinsically enjoyable.

Arcades catering to video games began to gain momentum in the late 1970s with games such as Gee Bee (1978) and Galaxian (1979) and became widespread in 1980 with Pac-Man, King and Balloon, Tank Battalion, and others. They remained commonplace through the early 1990s and there were still new genres being explored, but most new games were shooters, maze games, and other variations on old familiar themes. Arcade games often have very short levels, simple and intuitive control schemes, and rapidly increasing difficulty. The racing games are those which have a simplified physics engine and do not require much learning time, in opposition to racing simulators.Flight games also use simplified physics and controls in comparison to flight simulators. Arcade gamers do not have to rely on morally bankrupt and/or incompetent publications to tell them which games are out there and which are worth playing. Arcades are a business and just like any other business, they need to turn a profit or they won't stay in business.

Video game arcades sprang up in shopping malls, and small "corner arcades" appeared in restaurants, grocery stores, bars and movie theaters all over the United States and other countries during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Video arcade game hardware is often based on home game consoles to facilitate porting a video arcade game to a home system; there are video arcade versions of Sega Dreamcast (NAOMI), Sony PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube (Triforce), and Microsoft Xbox (Chihiro) home consoles. Video games were a fairly new concept in the 1980's, although they had been around since the early 1970's, their popularity didn't really take hold until Pac-Man came out.

Arcade games are relatively simple machines: they typically consist of a game circuit board, power supply, monitor, input controls (joysticks, buttons, trackball, etc) and a wiring harness that connects everything together. They are usually simple, repetitive games that involve mastering one or more skills, and then applying those skills in increasingly complex ways. These games are also excellent entertainment options for people of all ages. These types of games aren't going to be more popular than console games in the foreseeable future, but they should be around for our entertainment for a while.

Buying Used Nintendo DS Games

Nintendo have always been classified easily by their type and their history because of the technical constraints of different platforms. In time, as the sums of money destined to Nintendo games production raised, their commercial value grew and the requirement for creative talent compelled companies to bring outsourcing professionals. This can be the reason why some used Nintendo DS games can be commercialized through the franchise system. To continue with, the re-use of some can be noticed during franchise trials, which are usually based on the same characters, situations, conflicts, and themes along the sequels.

That is why, although many used games are a mixture of more types, few of them gets out of patterns. Therefore, they cannot be classified as a certain type. However, some producers can use an old idea and create a new, successful game. This success must be first a commercial one and other companies will try to imitate them for a similar success.

Examples of such used Nintendo DS games are Super Mario 64, which released the video game platform for consoles, or Doom, which released the First person shooter type for PC. In 1994-1995, Sega released Sega Saturn and Sony entered the world of video games with play station. Both consoles were using technology on 32 megabytes and the way for the development of new 3D titles was opened.

After some time, Nintendo released the console on 64 bits in 1996, selling more than 1.5 million pieces in only3 months. The super Mario 64 video game has become the symbol of the 3D platform genre. After starting on Play Station in 1996, PaRappa the Rapper has made famous a new type of video games in Japan, the musical video experience. Later on, beat mania followed and became an attractive omnipresence in the Japanese arcades. Other memorable games of Nintendo were appreciated by critics for the innovations that were brought to it and for the fact that it was the first successful person shooter for a console.

The passage from 2D to 3D of the game "The Legend of Zelda" was performed by the game "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998) that has been considered one of the best which has ever been made. Read more about Nintendo DS and Wii titles at http://www.nintendowiibuyonline.com

One of the popular used titles for play station was Metal Gear Solid (1998), which was the departure point for the stealth type video games. Until the late 1990s, Sony was a reputed competitor on the video games market.

To continue with, the advantage of buying used titles for consoles is that they are obviously cheaper and if you want to be a winner, you can find out tips and tricks from your older friends or even from your parents. If you are a nostalgic parent of a video addict kid, you can purchase for yourself used games and ask your child do anything else while you are playing your old, used video game.

Play Donkey Kong 1, 2, 3, Jr and Country Online Free - NES and SNES Games

This article is for anyone interesting in learning how to play Donkey Kong 1, 2, 3, Jr, and Donkey Kong Country Online and learning the controls. The games are listed below.

Donkey Kong:
This was the game that started it all. Mario rescuing the Princess from Donkey Kong through jumping over barrels and climbing ladders. This all while avoiding flames shooting from an oil barrel. The A-button jumps like most other Nes games and the B-button has no use in this game. Hit right or left on the d-pad to move and up/down to climb a ladder. If you grab the hammer you can hit barrels coming at you.

On the very last stage walk or jump over the platform objects to release the platform Donkey Kong is on. Doing this allows Mario to rescue the Princess and you to enjoy a very cheesy 8-bit Nes ending. You play this great title online on Wii Shop for 500 Wii points or 5 dollar equivalent. That goes for most other popular NES titles. That is how Nintendo revived all the Nes hits.

Donkey Kong 2:
Donkey Kong 2 was referred to as Donkey Kong Jr. in North America.

Donkey Kong 3:
Donkey Kong 3 is a title where you play as Mario who is an exterminator and shoots Donkey Kong with a poison. The directional pad moves Mario. Up makes him jump up a platform while down makes him drop a platform. It is very easy to learn and also very easy to die. This Donkey Kong title is not as popular as the others. It is a rare NES cartridge find though.

Donkey Kong Jr.:
In this very popular console and arcade game you play as Donkey Kong Jr. to rescue his father Donkey Kong from Mario. You must battle through stages to rescue the imprisoned Donkey Kong. The A-button makes Donkey Kong Jr. jump and the hitting right or left on the d-pad makes him move. The B-Button has no use in this game. This was Mario's leading Evil role in video game.

Donkey Kong Country:
This was the first Donkey Kong game for Super Nintendo and actually had some controls worth learning. If you press A you can switch between Donkey Kong and Diddy, get off an animal, or switch between 1st and 2nd player. The B-button allows you to Jump and swim. The Y-button let you climb vines, roll, run, or pick up a barrel. If you hit down on the d-pad and Y you could do Donkey Kong's hand slap move.

Finally the d-pad controls the direction you are moving. Snes games on Wii Shop cost 800 Wii points or 8 dollar equivalent. You can find this game and many great other Snes hits on Wii Shop to play online. Enjoy playing classic Donkey Kong titles in the near future.

Medieval Madness Pinball Machine Review

Medieval Madness has to be one of the few pinball games ever created that has a universal draw. It doesn't matter if you're pro or novice, young or old, man or woman, you WILL have fun playing this game.

It has incredible effects, especially with the exploding castle. It has some of the most hilarious audio on a pinball game ever. It's a straight forward in, but with its satisfying gameplay it all ads up an incredible pinball game.

I always catch myself repeating most of the funny lines while I'm playing the game. It sticks with you long after the game is over. You'll find yourself muttering the lines in the shower. Medieval Madness also has really beautiful artwork. The design of the drawbridge and castle are nothing short of inspiring was great. Defeating each of the castle lords is a very rewarding feeling.

If there is one slam on the game its that, mechanically, it's a delicate machine and I've played over ten different games and each one of them has had at least one hiccup, such as when you hit the trolls sometimes you don't score any points as well as the castle gate not operating correctly.

Beginner pinball players will find it easy to get into and forgiving enough to keep on playing it. The expert players will find it thoroughly enjoyable. I have met people who couldn't stand pinball games but they just seem to really dig this game. If you're a pro, you're probably not going to find it too challenging but that's you'll have so much fun with it, you won't even care.

Online Games

Online games have become increasingly popular with the marketing of high speed internet. There are a variety of online games for people of all ages. There are video games, card games, gambling, games of skill, and learning games.

Video games are very popular online because of the accessibility and the great graphics. Most of the online games are free. The great thing about it is as a game gets a new version, the computer updates to it. This is an advantage over other game systems such as XBox, wii and Playstation 2. For those, when a new version is introduced you have to purchase another game. Such games often cost around $40.

Card games are a very fun feature online. There is your standard solitaire game with a variety of decks of cards to choose from. You can join many sites that will allow you access to play card games against other players including bridge, black jack, poker, Texas hold em and hearts. This is fun for those who want to interact with others, but cant always get out of the house to attend such activities.

The most popular online card games are those that relate to gambling including poker, blackjack, and Texas hold em. While there are plenty of sites that allow you to play against a computer or real people for fun, these games appear to be focused on actual online gambling. You can still play against a computer or join a tournament, but you are playing for actual money. You have to set up an account, and then you use funds from a credit card, checking account, paypal, or other online service to cover your bets.

Games of skill are easily found on the internet. The most popular are chess, pool, and scrabble. With all of these, you have the option to play against the computer or against other people who are at the site. Most sites like this also allow you the option of chatting, there is some basic interaction going on among players throughout the game as well.

Learning games are very popular too, especially for children. Interactive learning is everywhere on the internet. Games that help children learn to spell; read, count, and do basic math while having a great time doing in are very worthwhile.

The internet offers lots of variety when it comes to online gaming. Most you will find are free of charge. There are those who charge to access games, so be sure to pay close attention to those details prior to joining. Have a great time finding games of chance and games of skill that peak your interests! My favorite is online yahtzee.

Issues and Trends in Curriculum - From Technology to Global Awareness

Many immediate and complex issues overwhelm educators today. With positive and negative global influences, educators must look beyond the surface of education. Students are not just products of their schools but will become shaping forces in society, determining the success and failure of their nation's future. Curricularists, educators, and everyone in leadership need to work together to develop a well-rounded curriculum, which includes the learning of different cultures. Our next generation will need to cope with cross-cultural matters and grow into sensible adults who are fair and just to the global society.

Technology plays an essential role in our education today and will even more so in the future. Especially in countries where economic and political situations are stable, the accessibility of the Internet and computers to maximize curriculum and to act as a means of communication among educators, even to the extent of intranets, must become available. This technology should be available in every school funded by taxes and donation from private industry.

Technology can also close the gaps between the educational levels around the world. Because of the political and socio-economic differences among countries, it would be impossible for this degree of technology to reach all parts of the world, yet effort should be made to see that education is fairy distributed to all children everywhere. This will require volunteers, donations, and assistance from the capable countries internationally. Even if there was just one computer in every town for those countries for school children, it would make a difference.

Another reason technology is significant to our curriculum development is for cultural knowledge expansion. The need to understand different cultures is an emergent issue in today's education and societies as relationships among countries become more intertwined. The United States has always been a country of diversity; however, for the longest time, the contents of its curriculum were selectively western-focused.

For example, high school world history courses emphasized primarily European and western history. We now can make use of technology to design a world history curriculum that includes not only that part of world history but extends farther. San Diego University, in cooperation with the National Center for History in the Schools at the University of Los Angeles, offers Internet information on world history and assists teachers in delivering a whole curriculum without excluding a major part of the world's people, events, or times (San Diego State University, 2007).

We should also take advantage of technology to form a curriculum for creating international awareness, understanding various cultures, and learning different opinions and values. Curriculums
need to focus on melting down barriers against others who are different and to encourage mutual respect and understanding for other cultures and beliefs. One way to promote cultural exchange is through technological communication. Thanks to the advancement of technology today, students all over the world can actually use computers to see and to talk to each other. More effort on promoting such communication should be encouraged and assisted by the government, various organizations, and individuals with the means to do so. One day, through the help of technology in education, people will learn that we are all part of the world community.

Virtual Fishing

A nice way of saying, playing a fishing game on you computer or online.

I'm not one for playing many games online or on my PC, but when I started the fishing in the kawarthas site, which then progressed to the fishing products online fishing store site, I came across these two neat little online games that seemed to relate to my fishing products online.

Naturally, I had to make them available to my visitors, and I went ahead and did just that. If you are interested you can check out the two games here - Fishing Trip and Crazy Fishing when you get to Fishing in the Kawarthas.

Oddly enough the company that releases these games is called BigFish Games - go figure my luck! But don't let the name fool you. They have a heap load of games for PCs users, Mac users, Onliners, and Kids too covering a range of topics, themes and skill factors.

Another one of the games I found from their large net load of categories, this time a PC based game for the gentle art of fish watching, called Fishdom. Check it out.

I just remembered a game I used to play on my Amiga 500 - this will date me I'm sure - but it was one of the best fishing games I had. It was called Reel Fish'n - A bass Fishing Simulation. Great graphics, even for way back then and true to life sound effects. I can vouch for that. Living by the river and fishing from my dock, I hear the "Red-winged Blackbird" often telling me to vacate their territory. This sound is perfectly duplicated in the Amiga game. I still have my Amiga 500, actually I have 2 of them tucked away in a closet somewhere - but that's another story.

OK! Back to virtual fishing or fishing games online, computer based fishing games and this article. Nowadays the gaming community has invested heavily in a variety of sophisticated games, computer based, as well as the ones played worldwide online over the net. I wonder what is new in fishing games? Perhaps this could be the topic for another article, blog or website, even it has been done already. This is my fishing world in the kawarthas so what the heck, I'll have to check them out for another day.

Happy fishing - online or not!

Nintendo Wii Fit - What a Blast

Wii Fit must be connected to a Wii console for it to work and must make you fitter than you were before since 'Fit' is in its name. Makes sense, doesn't it.

Released in May 2008 to mostly positive reviews, today this beauty is the biggest selling console anywhere. Nintendo's latest innovation for the gaming console gets the gamer off the couch and, who knows, could make this the end of the plump, lazy gamer.

Wii fit is a game using the incredible Balance Board, designed for this game, which concentrates on helping players keep fit. It tracks your balance, and after completing a move it shows you in dramatic fashion how your centre of gravity is moving. While the overall focus may appear to be on core muscles, the Strength Training exercises do contain some arm and leg exercises, such as Push-Ups, Side Plank Combo, and Basic Lunges.

Scoring is generated by accurate repetitions, which are recorded by the Balance Board, or in some cases the Wii Remote such as for Triceps Extensions. On a daily basis, the time spent exercising is deposited into the system's bank, and as credits are deposited, new activities and difficulties are unlocked, rewarding the user for continuing to use the Wii Fit.

Someone told me recently that his doctor is recommending Wii Fit to him as it's much less boring than exercise! Wow, this phenomenon really is going places. By the way, before anyone says you can do all these things without this console, there is remember, the added benefit of having the game track your weight and progress, help your form and timing with each exercise, and pair the strength exercises with yoga exercises in ways that make sense. The programmes are actually in some form of order for your ease of use and for your encouragement to continue.

The Wii Fit is just so much fun and all the time you're excercising that body without really much effort. If you've got one - great, if you're thinking of getting one you will certainly not be disappointed.
