How to Avoid Getting Scammed by Unofficial MMO Leveling and Strategy Guides

Over the years, I have played many MMO's starting way back with the classic original MMO Ultima Online. Since then I have fallen in love with the genre, as you probably have as well if you are reading this article.

I have always strived to become a great player, even though my real life schedule has not allowed me to put in as much time as some people into my latest games.

If you have been on the "MMO Scene" for any amount of time, you may have seen a new trend out there for unofficial MMO gaming guides, starting in World of Warcraft. WOW has held the monopoly of these guide writers, until lately when I have seen a few people branching out into other games.

I can say I have found a few of these guides extremely useful as a gamer. They allow me to find out details about a game I would otherwise never have known. Often in MMO's I would struggle to get to the maximum level in games, but I would see other people blazing past me in levels and I had no idea how they did it.

That set me off buying pretty much every guide I could get my hands on. I wanted to know the secrets of leveling fast like some people seemed to be able to do. I discovered one important thing. There are huge differences between "good" guides that actually help you level, and "bad" guides.

Some things I have seen:

  • Strategy guides that are basically posts from the game's official forums, or information from an official guide repackaged into a so-called leveling guide.
  • Guides that are outright copies of other peoples work. In one gold-making guide I purchased, the author took a guide from one game and replaced the name of the game with another game and sold it as a gold making guide for that game!
  • Outright lies. Guides promising detail, when they are only lists of quests with no detail.

So, I thought I would write this article and teach others what to look for in a real MMO leveling guide.
  • Number one on my list: Do the author(s) offer a free sample of their work? Almost 90% of guides I've found that those authors who post nothing about their guide are generally scam guides. There's a reason they won't show even one page of their writing, they know you wouldn't buy it!
  • Do they offer a money back guarantee? All of the quality guides I've purchased have a money back guarantee. You should feel safe when buying a guide.
  • Do the authors offer any type of support? Sometimes I get confused about a detail; it's nice to know I can feel comfortable emailing the authors, without being ignored. A couple guides I've purchased sell mass quantities of low-quality guides and never reply to emails.
  • What are the credentials of the author? If the guide is unofficial, then the authors should have some serious MMO experience behind them.

In conclusion, an unofficial MMO gaming guide should be able to do at least one thing well. Guides that claim to have everything generally have NOTHING useful. This is just from my personal experience having purchased many guides over the years.

One of the best sites I have found for gaming guides is Ashling's World MMO Gaming and Leveling Guides. They provide guides for Age of Conan, Wrath of the Lich King and Warhammer Online. The authors really KNOW their gaming, and put a ton of detail into their guides. I have personally found their guides extremely helpful when gaming. Also, you won't have any problems if you ever need help! When I asked a question, they responded quickly. I hope this has helped you!

Are You Aware Of RDRAM Problems ?

Analogies work well when you are trying to explain a technical process. It makes the information and the technical terms easier to remember if you compare it to something someone would normally use.

You can think of Rambus Dynamic Random Access Memory, or RDRAM, in terms of a Post-It note. You write down important information that you stick some place you will see it and be able to access it easier. If you filed it away in a drawer, then you would waste valuable time searching for the information. Memory modules and RAM work the same way.

RDRAM is not just for desktop memory or notebook memory. It is also used in older models of video game systems such as the Playstation 2 and the Nintendo 64.

The new Playstation 3 has forgone the older system in favor of the XDR DRAM that has speeds up to 3.2 GHz. It is, however, still used in video cards such as Creative Graphics Blaster MA3xx series.

This form of storage is no longer a feasible option for most inexpensive personal computers for a variety of reasons. High latency, heat output, cost and complexity have caused manufacturers to phase this storage module out of the market. The crucial memory is not justified for the price that you will pay and another downfall is that it runs much slower than the newer models.

This was fine for 1996 and is still fine if you have a high end computer but if you are like most computer users, then you do not need this form of Random Access Memory. The manufacturers had a great idea but the attempt failed due to the sheer size and cost of the module.

If your computer requires faster memory, then you'll want to choose something other than the RDRAM. You may want to consider DDR SDRAM (Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory). The DDR SDRAM is a great option considering the cost and size when compared to its predecessor.

You may not want to get into something this complicated. If that is the case, then you may want to leave upgrades to trained professionals who can quickly upgrade your desktop memory at a low cost. It will save you time, money and headaches!

BusinessWeek Online - The very first day that Chalace Epley Lowry started working at Wal-Mart Stores as an administrative assistant in the communications department, on Jan. 2 of this year, she went through a day-long orientation with a heavy emphasis on ethics. "We were told that even if we see something that has the appearance of something unethical we should report it," says Lowry. Now, two weeks after filing a complaint against a more senior executive, the 50-year-old mother of two finds herself looking for another job.

Xbox 360 Red Rings of Doom - What Can I Do Without Having to Send it Back?

If you are own an Xbox 360 console then you have probably heard something of all the problems that this machine has had. It's suffered from many hardware problems and they include red lights, DVD drive problems, game freeze ups and sometimes even crashes!

Of course when you get some of these problems you can send it back to Microsoft and they will repair it for you and send it back. However I know of people that have sent their broken console in about six times and still got future problems. So this article will explain the options you have if you do not want to send it back to Microsoft.

1. The first way you can get it fixed is by getting a third party company to fix it for you and you can find plenty of these online. They provide the same sort of service as Microsoft except normally the charges are less than $140 and you send your Xbox to them and they fix it for you.

The only problem with this option is that if you run into future problems you may not have any comeback as they may just provide a one off for repair service.

2. The other option you have is to use an Xbox 360 repair guide which is basically a collection of video files and text files that will show you how to perform the repair work yourself at home. This does sound pretty mad to begin with but if you think all you need to do is stop the heat building up on the motherboard and that is what these guides focus on telling you with household items.

If you are going to go down the route of getting an Xbox 360 repair guide then make sure it comes with a complete guarantee and also a preview of the videos that you will be getting so you can see how clear the instructions are. Another thing that you may want to do is test out the customer service by sending them a quick email so you can assess how efficient they are.

I hope this article has told you how you can fix the red lights of doom on your Xbox 360 without having to send it back and wait for six weeks!

Good luck!

Top Secret Area in Super Mario World

This is the biggest secret in Super Mario World. It is called the "Top Secret Area". I completely missed this the first three times I played Super Mario World. Then out of boredom the fourth time playing Super Mario World I discovered it.

It is very simple to find. First go to Donut Plains #1 and get a cape from one of the Caped Koopas. Then go to Donut Ghost House #1. At the very start of the stage fly up to find a ledge. Follow this to be rewarded with several 1-ups. Then finish the stage and it will open a level called "Top Secret". It isn't actually a level but just a screen like Yoshi's House.

Every time you enter this level you will be rewarded with your choice of two capes or two flowers and a green Yoshi. This makes the game much easier as it is accessible before the second castle. Since it is so unknown for first time players and even veteran players it is very easily missed. It seems too easy to find to be such a unknown secret.

Another reason people often miss this secret is because they look at the World Map and think the Ghost House can't branch off to another path other then straight to the castle or into the lake. The other reason is because you can't get a cape in the levels previous to the Donut Ghost House #1 besides Donut Plains #1 which is two levels before it.

You follow the directions above and pat yourself on the back for finding the Top Secret Area in Super Mario World.
