Xbox 360 Repair Guide

Trusting the free information out there on the internet about how to fix your broken Xbox 360 is like trusting random strangers to guide you through a minefield.

When my xbox died a miserable death in the form of the three red light error I took it upon myself to learn everything I could about how to prevent and repair broken xbox 360s.

The short answer on how to avoid getting the three red light error in the first place is to play your xbox in moderation. That's right, actually take a break every hour or so like they always tell you to do on the front page of the instruction booklet.

Try to keep it in a cool spot with plenty of ventilation so the fans can do their job effectively. Overheating is the main reason that Xboxes everywhere are failing.

Here's the kicker, don't play Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4.

These games push the original issue machines so hard that the inbuilt heatsinks aren't good enough to cope with the extra heat. Well it's not strictly the heatsinks, it's more the soldering. It's not just a simple job of taking a soldering iron to the motherboard and having it back up and running in 10 minutes, but it is something that can be done in under an hour with just household tools that you probably have already lying around the house.

I found a lot of sites around with small low res pictures that sort of explained how to fix the problem, I say sort of because for the most part the technical geniuses of the world aren't literary geniuses that can make their work easily understood to others. Which is why it was a breath of fresh air to find out that there are E-Books out there you can buy that have Hi-Res photos, videos and support lines to back up their money back policy.

I was able to get my Xbox back up and running in 47 minutes following the easy on screen instructions in this E-book on how to repair your Xbox 360 yourself.

Daniel Scott owns and maintains the Three Red Lights blog which is one of the most popular resources for information on how to fix the three red light error on your xbox 360 on the internet today.
